Dhaka, June 30 -- University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh has approved a budget of Taka 8485.12 crore for 46 public universities in the country for the 2020-2021 fiscal. The budget was approved recently at a virtual meeting of the 158th full commission of the UGC, chaired by its Chairman Professor Dr Kazi Shahidullah, said a press release.
The budget consists of a revenue budget allocation of Taka 5,454.12 crore, which has been increased by 5% than last year, and a development budget of Taka 3,031 crore in favor of 53 projects.
During the meeting, it was stated that the total budget for the universities last year was Taka 8088.49 crore. Compared to that, the budget this year has been increased by around Taka 397 crore.
