Dhaka, April 6 -- Bangladesh's export sector is already facing various challenges. The recent US tariff hike on the country's products has become a new challenge.

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on goods imported from some countries, including Bangladesh, in an effort to reduce the trade deficit and protect US industries.

According to a report published in our newspaper, customs duties on goods imported from Bangladesh have been increased to 37 percent. The average rate so far has been 15 percent.

Experts and RMG leaders believe that this US move will have a negative impact on Bangladesh's total exports.
