Dhaka, July 9 -- A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former textiles and jute minister Golam Dastagir Gazi and his wife, Hasina Gazi, and ordered the freezing of assets worth over Tk 24.31 crore in connection with a corruption case under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib on Tuesday passed the order following three separate petitions filed by ACC Deputy Assistant Director Mohammad Zulfikar.

According to ACC spokesperson Akhtarul Islam, the court ordered the freezing of shares of 12 companies, nine bank accounts, and three vehicles all owned by Gazi or associated entities. The total estimated value of these assets is Tk 24 crore 31 lakh 71 thousand a...
