Dhaka, Sept. 18 -- BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has said that those who declare the upcoming elections will not be allowed are, in fact, speaking against the will of the people. "Such statements reflect a fascist mentality and character," he added.

Speaking as the chief guest at a gift distribution event for journalists at the Tangail Press Club on Wednesday (17 September), Tuku stated: "The people of Bangladesh have struggled for the past 17 years to resist fascism. The spirit of that movement still lives on, and the people desire a free, fair, and neutral election through which they can choose their preferred candidates. It is the government's responsibility to ensure such an environment."
