Dhaka, Dec. 9 -- Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, has stated that there is no magic button or simple on-off switch to immediately stop killings. "If such a switch existed, I would have turned it off by now," he said.

The adviser made these remarks on Monday after a meeting of the Law and Order Advisory Committee at the Secretariat, responding to journalists' questions about recent murders, including the killing of a freedom fighter and his wife at their Rangpur home.
