Dhaka, Feb. 26 -- Teachers across the country have announced a nationwide class boycott in protest of the government's refusal to nationalize private MPO-listed educational institutions.

The announcement was made during a demonstration in front of the National Press Club, where leaders of the Nationalization Aspirants Unity Alliance reiterated their key demands.

These include the nationalization of MPO-listed institutions, full festival allowances before Eid-ul-Fitr, and house rent and medical allowances equivalent to those of government employees.

As part of their protest, the teachers warned that if their festival allowance demand is not met, they will offer Eid prayers in the Jamuna River as a symbolic act of dissent.
