India, Jan. 11 -- The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday declared the nomination of independent candidate Tasnim Jara valid for the 13th national parliamentary election, upholding her appeal against the cancellation of her nomination paper.

Tasnim Jara is vying the election from the Dhaka-9 constituency as an independent candidate. Her nomination was validated following a hearing that began this morning at the Election Commission in the capital's Agargaon area.

Talking to journalists, Tasnim Jara said her appeal to the Election Commission had been accepted and her nomination as an independent candidate from Dhaka-9 had been declared valid.
