Dhaka, July 3 -- Despite Bangladesh's innings defeat to Sri Lanka in the Colombo Test, left-arm spinner Taijul Islam emerged as a standout performer with the ball - and his efforts have been reflected in the latest ICC Test rankings.

In the weekly update published by the ICC on Wednesday, Taijul moved up two spots to 16th in the Test bowlers' rankings. Although just below his career-best of 15th - which he achieved in 2023 - the 33-year-old remains Bangladesh's top-ranked Test bowler.

Taijul picked up 5 wickets for 131 runs in Sri Lanka's only innings in Colombo, marking his 17th five-wicket haul in Test cricket across 55 matches.
