Dhaka, July 14 -- Students of Sir Salimullah Medical College (SSMC) in Dhaka have declared a 'shutdown' of their institution, demanding immediate and effective measures to ensure security on the hospital premises.The announcement came on Sunday afternoon during a protest march that started from the medical college campus.
The students said they would maintain the shutdown until concrete steps are taken to guarantee safety within the hospital compound. They also demanded strict control over the entry of outsiders, the removal of illegal footpath vendors, and greater deployment and vigilance by the Ansar security forces.
