Dhaka, Feb. 4 -- Even after Ansar commander late Farooq Ahmad became a brave freedom fighter, he still did not get state recognition. His son Md. Nashir Uddin Mahmud applied to the National Freedom Fighters Council for the recognition of his father. He appealed to the Prime Minister without getting any response.

In the application, Nashir Uddin mentioned that his father Ansar Commander Farooq Ahmad, a resident of Padua Union of Lohagara Upazila of Chittagong, participated in Sector 1 in the Great War of Liberation in 1971. At that time he was the commander of Ansar battalion. He is known as the freedom fighter commander in Lohagara upazila.
