Dhaka, Aug. 16 -- Actress Shomi Kaiser has been released from Kashimpur Women's Central Jail after spending nine months behind bars in connection with an attempted murder case linked to last year's July Uprising.

According to prison officials, Shomi walked out of the facility around 10:40 pm on Thursday after securing bail from the court.

Md Jahangir Kabir, Additional Inspector General of Prisons, confirmed the release, stating that the case was filed with Uttara East Police Station. The popular television actress was arrested from her Uttara residence on November 5 last year.

Four days later, on November 9, a Dhaka court ordered her into custody after she was formally shown arrested in the case.
