Dhaka, Nov. 21 -- A second-grade schoolgirl, Marjia Akter (10), was killed after being hit by a speeding truck in Nilphamari. The accident occurred around 2:30 pm on Thursday in front of the District Model Mosque.
Marjia was the daughter of Mostakim Shah from Shahpara area of Pirer Mazar in Tupamari Union, Nilphamari Sadar Upazila. She was a class two student at Momtaz Memorial School in the town.
According to locals, Marjia attended a class party at school in the morning. After the event ended around noon, she was returning home on a motorcycle with her uncle, Hasu Shah.
On the way, she felt thirsty near the Model Mosque, prompting her uncle to stop the motorcycle and go to a nearby hotel to fetch water.
