Dhaka, Feb. 26 -- The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday set April 22 for a hearing on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam's petition, which seeks a review of the apex court's judgment upholding his death sentence. The sentence was initially pronounced by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in 1971.
The five-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed passed the order, granting defence the leave to take part in the hearing in this regard.
The apex court also ordered the defence to submit the summary of their appeal case within next week and the prosecution to submit summary of their case within the next two weeks...
