Dhaka, Feb. 19 -- The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami staged a protest in the capital's Paltan area on Tuesday demanding the release of its Assistant Secretary General, ATM Azharul Islam. The demonstration, organised by the party's Dhaka Metropolitan North and South units, commenced at around 4:50 PM at the Paltan intersection, with Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman leading the programme.

As hundreds of party activists took to the streets, traffic in the busy commercial area came to a standstill, causing immense suffering for commuters. Office-goers, students, and daily wage workers were left stranded for hours as key roads remained blocked. Business activities in the surrounding areas also faced disruptions due to the protest.
