Dhaka, June 28 -- The United States Embassy in Dhaka has requested Bangladeshi applicants for student and exchange programme visas to adjust the privacy settings on their social media accounts to "public" in order to support the visa vetting process.

In a Facebook post published on 26 June, the embassy stated: "All individuals applying for an F, M, or J nonimmigrant visa are requested to adjust the privacy settings on all of their social media accounts to 'public' to facilitate vetting necessary to establish their identity and admissibility to the United States."
