Dhaka, April 7 -- The use of posters in the upcoming national election will not be allowed, the Election Commission (EC) has announced as part of its draft code of conduct aimed at ensuring fair campaigning.

However, leaflets will still be permitted for electioneering, subject to restrictions, Election Commissioner Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar said on Monday following a meeting at the EC headquarters in Agargaon.

"The reform commission proposed this ban on posters, and we think it's a good idea," said the commissioner, adding that the EC is also focusing on social media campaigns and measures to curb misinformation.
