Dhaka, March 5 -- Police were deployed at the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on Wednesday after junior officials locked in Chairman Khondoker Rashed Maqsood and several senior officials in their office. The protest was sparked by the forced retirement of Executive Director Saifur Rahman.
Junior officials at the BSEC locked the senior officials inside after noon, said Mirpur Police Station Sub-inspector Md Salauddin.
"There had been unrest inside since around 1pm. The junior officials confined the chairman and others as a form of protest. However, we are not certain whether any unpleasant incidents took place inside," the SI said.
