Dhaka, Dec. 16 -- A poacher was arrested by the forest guards with two and a half maunds of deer meat (venison) while smuggling deer meat from the Sundarbans early Sunday morning. The arrested poacher has been sentenced to suffer rigorous imprisonment for one year in a mobile court.
According to forest department sources, forest guards led by Forester Md. Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Gyanpara Special Patrol Outpost of Sharankhola Range unde the Eastern Sundarbans Forest Division, conducted a raid in Charduani Bazar area at around 3-30 am on Sunday based on a secret tip-off and arrested deer poacher Liton Howlader (49).
