Dhaka, May 10 -- A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram on Thursday morning, tragically resulting in the death of a pilot.

The deceased pilot has been identified as Squadron Leader Asim Jawad.

He was undergoing treatment at BNS Shaheed Ishkhan Hospital after being injured in the crash.

Sadly, Squadron Leader Jawad succumbed to his injuries around 12:30 pm, according to Chattogram Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Port) Shakila Sultana.

The co-pilot, Wing Commander Sohan, also sustained injuries in the crash but is reportedly recovering at the medical squadron of Zahurul Haque Base.
