Pet Magnet
Dhaka, March 4 -- Rajia Khatun, a woman in her mid-fifties, has become a familiar figure in the streets of Shantinagar and Bailey Road areas, but not for reasons one might expect.
Faced with the harsh reality she found her stride by scavenging for hardware remnants by attaching a magnet to the end of a piece of rope.
This simple yet effective device enables her to collect small metallic items like nuts, bolts, washers, and nails that litter the roadsides.
These tiny treasures, often overlooked by passersby, cling to her "pet" magnet, providing her with a modest income of Tk 100 to 200 every day. The photo was taken from road in the capital's Siddheswari area on Sunday. Photo: Wahidul Islam
