Dhaka, Feb. 11 -- Bangladesh's per capita income has dropped to $2,738 in the fiscal year 2023-24, based on the final calculations by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
This represents a $46 decrease from the earlier provisional estimate of $2,784.
The BBS released its final figures for per capita income and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on Monday, revealing that the GDP growth rate has also seen a reduction of 1.60 percentage points from the provisional estimate.
According to the BBS data, per capita income has been on a downward trajectory for three consecutive years.
In 2021-22, it peaked at $2,793, but fell to $2,749 in 2022-23. This downward trend continued in the latest fiscal year, with income dropping further.
