Dhaka, Aug. 31 -- A record-breaking sum of Tk. 12 Crore 9 lakh 37,220 was found in the donation boxes of the historic Pagla Masjid in Kishoreganj after a daylong counting on Saturday, marking the highest amount ever collected in the mosque's history.

The previous highest, Tk. 9.18 Crore was recorded on 12 April this year. The authorities have collected at least 32 sacks of cash from 13 donation boxes of the historic Pagla mosque, after 4 months 18 days since the last count.

The donation boxes were opened on Saturday morning at 7.am in the presence of Deputy Commissioner (DC) alao Joint Secretary Fouzia Khan, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury Bpm, ADC(General) MizabeRahmat, Sadar UNO Kamrul Hasan Maruf.
