Dhaka, Nov. 4 -- The price of locally produced onions in Dhaka has surged past Tk100 per kilogram, with retail rates now ranging between Tk100 and Tk105 in different parts of the capital.
Data from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) shows that today, local onion prices in Dhaka ranged from Tk95 to Tk105 per kg.
Just two days ago, the price was around Tk90 per kg, meaning shoppers are facing an increase of Tk10-15 within only 48 hours.
Traders said the price hike in major onion-producing districts is affecting markets in the capital.
