Dhaka, Jan. 30 -- The fate of 15 fishermen kidnapped from Dublarchar Sea Fish Drying Village by pirates on Sunday midnight (Jan 26) remains unknown, sparking fear among over 12,000 fishermen engaged in fishing and drying activities in the Bay of Bengal.
The Dubla Fishermen Group has urged the Adviser-in-Charge of Home Affairs to intervene urgently. At a video press conference held on Tuesday noon at Alorkol Island, the group called for swift action to rescue the abducted fishermen and curb piracy, which has resurfaced after years of relative calm.
