Dhaka, Nov. 18 -- Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the overall situation in the country remains stable following the death sentences awarded to Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal in the case concerning crimes against humanity during last year's July-August mass uprising.
Speaking to reporters after a core committee meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, he said, "The public at large has reacted calmly to the verdict, indicating a prevailing sense of normalcy nationwide."
According to the adviser, daily activities are continuing as usual, with no noticeable tension or disorder on the streets.
