Dhaka, Jan. 29 -- Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said no one will be permitted to hold protests under the banner of the fallen Awami League (AL).

"Anyone dares to hold illegal protests under the AL banner will face the full power of the law," he wrote in a post on his verified Facebook account on Wednesday.

Since it took over in early August, he said, the interim government has not stopped or banned any lawful protests. "We believe in freedom of assembly and freedom of association," he said.

The press secretary said one report this morning showed that at least 136 protests took place alone in Dhaka in the past five and a half months.
