Dhaka, Feb. 16 -- Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has announced that citizens will no longer be required to undergo police verification to obtain passports, simplifying the application process for travelers.
The government has made it a rule that there will be no need for police verification from now, he said while inaugurating the annual Deputy Commissioners' conference at his office in the capital on Sunday.
"Obtaining a passport is one of the citizens' rights. If we don't require police verification for birth certificates or NIDs, why should it be necessary for passports?" he said.
Dr Yunus said the government must work as a team. "It's team work. We must avoid anything that hinders the success of the entire team," he added.
