Dhaka, Nov. 10 -- Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed has said that the decision to introduce a new pay scale for public servants will be taken by the next elected government.

He made the remarks on Sunday following meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs at the Secretariat in Dhaka.

The government formed a pay commission on 27 July to review and propose a revised salary structure for government officials and employees.

The commission is led by Zakir Ahmed Khan, former finance secretary and current chairman of the Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

The commission has been given six months to submit its recommendations.
