Dhaka, Nov. 3 -- A new prison with modern facilities was opened on a limited scale by bringing at least 100 prisoners from the old prison in Khulna.
The new prison's activities began on Saturday. At 11:30 am, the prisoners were brought from the old prison to the new prison in prison cells under tight security. The 100 prisoners were welcomed with roses and marigolds.
They were taken to the new prison in three vehicles at around 11:30 am on Saturday.
This was the first round of transfer of prisoners after the inauguration of the new facility. Deputy Inspector General of Prisons Monir Ahmed was present during the transfer of the prisoners to the new prison.
