Dhaka, March 9 -- The National Citizens' Party (NCP) has criticised the state's inability to provide security for women, calling for immediate action to curb violence and harassment against women and children.

The demand was made at a protest rally held in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh at 4:30 pm on Saturday.

Speaking at the rally, Sarjis Alam, Chief Organiser of NCP's North unit, said law enforcement agencies must ensure that no one imposes personal beliefs on others.

He warned that if mob culture continues to be used to harass women, it will reflect a failure of law and order. "From now on, we want to see action, not just talk," he asserted.
