Dhaka, June 23 -- The National Citizen Party (NCP) has called for the abolition of the four fundamental principles enshrined in Bangladesh's 1972 Constitution, claiming they no longer reflect the country's present political reality.
The announcement came during a media briefing following the party's dialogue with the National Consensus Commission (NCC) on Sunday at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
Senior NCP leader Dr Tasnim Jara stated the party is also open to limiting the prime minister's tenure, proposing a maximum of two terms. "If consensus forms around a 10-year limit or another fixed term, we are flexible," she said.
