Dhaka, Sept. 12 -- The National Consensus Commission (NCC) Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz on Thursday said the commission does not have the authority to implement the July Charter.

Pointing to the political parties, he said, "The commission would not impose anything regarding the implementation of the July Charter. The commission does not have the power to implement it.

The commission can, however, discuss the implementation of the July Charter with all political parties and then inform the government. We are following that process."
