Dhaka, Dec. 22 -- National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan has indicated that the government may consider further extending the deadline for online income tax return submission, as a large number of registered taxpayers have yet to file their returns digitally.

Speaking at the inauguration of an income tax return support booth at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Sunday, Khan said the NBR would assess the need for an extension based on submission trends.

"When we see that a large percentage of registered taxpayers have submitted their returns, we will understand that most of the work has been completed. At this stage, we believe around another 1.5 million taxpayers will submit their returns online," he said.
