Dhaka, March 2 -- The holy month of Ramadan starts today in Bangladesh following the sighting of the crescent moon on Saturday.

The announcement was made by the National Moon Sighting Committee, chaired by Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain, at the Islamic Foundation in Dhaka.

This marks the beginning of the sacred month, during which Muslims across the country will observe fasting, prayers, and spiritual reflection.

In addition to fasting from dawn to dusk, worshippers will gather in mosques for Taraweeh prayers and increased recitation of the Quran.
