Dhaka, Sept. 20 -- A housewife has been shot dead in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila after being caught in indiscriminate firing during a clash between rival BNP factions, police say.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon at Satpara village, said Narsingdi Additional Superintendent of Police Sujan Chandra Sarkar.

The victim was identified as 35-year-old Ferdousi Akter, wife of Rayes Ali.According to police and witnesses, tension had been running high between two groups of the BNP over establishing dominance in the area, reports bdnews24.com

On Thursday morning, a clash between the factions left one dead and several others injured.In retaliation, members of one side opened random gunfire on Friday afternoon to "assert dominance".
