His remarks came following the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, an aspiring candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency and spokesperson of Inquilab Moncho, who was attacked by unidentified assailants in Dhaka's Paltan area in broad-daylight on Friday.
Speaking at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Nahid said, "If the government cannot provide security or bring the perpetrators to justice, we will have to take action against them," he said.
Nahid also expressed concern over the rising threats to political activists and called on the government to act swiftly.
