Dhaka, March 30 -- Myanmar's junta chief, Min Aung Hlaing, has expressed his intention to hold talks with Prof. Mohammed Yunus, an adviser to Bangladesh's interim government, during the BIMSTEC summit scheduled to take place in Bangkok on 3-4 April.
According to Reuters, citing three well-informed sources, Min Aung Hlaing is seeking a high-level bilateral meeting with Prof. Yunus during the summit.
The junta chief is subject to widespread Western sanctions and is barred from attending ASEAN summits due to Myanmar's military government failing to implement an agreed peace plan with the bloc.
