Dhaka, Dec. 25 -- A new chapter has been added to the history of river-based sports in Bangladesh. Solo swimmer Monirul Islam has successfully completed the "Historic Padma 100 km Ultra Marathon Swim 2025". This swim has created history as the first and longest solo 100 km swim in the Padma River in Bangladesh and South Asia.

The swim started at 10:45 pm on Friday, December 19, 2025, from Paturia Ferry Terminal No. 5 in Manikganj district. After swimming for 17 hours and 55 minutes, he finished the swim at Chandpur Estuary the next day, Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 4:40 pm.
