Dhaka, March 20 -- Farmers in Manikganj district are anticipating a bumper onion production this season as the cultivation target has been surpassed, according to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).

The DAE initially set a target of cultivating onions on 7,035 hectares of land with an expected yield of 117,062 tonnes. However, actual cultivation has reached 7,564 hectares, exceeding the target by 529 hectares.

Among the seven upazilas of the district, Harirampur, Ghior, and Shibalaya have recorded the highest onion cultivation.
