Dhaka, April 25 -- Dhaka is not currently facing a dengue outbreak, according to Shajahan Mia, the administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). He stated that many of the patients receiving treatment for dengue in the capital's hospitals have traveled from outside Dhaka.

Speaking at a press conference at Rabindra Sarobar on Friday morning, Shajahan made the remarks while launching a special cleaning and mosquito eradication campaign under the slogan, "Let's keep our yards clean and create a clean city."

As part of the drive, Dhanmondi has been divided into seven zones, with 700 workers deployed to clean key mosquito breeding grounds such as drains and pipes. Pesticides are also being applied in these areas.
