Dhaka, Feb. 27 -- Md. Mahfuz Alam has been appoin.ted as the new Information Adviser, assuming responsibility for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting following the resignation of Md Nahid Islam.

Nahid Islam stepped down from his position on Tuesday to lead a new political party, which is being established by leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

In response, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus entrusted Mahfuz Alam with the ministry's leadership. The Cabinet Division issued an official notification confirming his appointment on Wednesday.
