Dhaka, Dec. 16 -- With Victory Day today (Tuesday), Bangladesh emerged as an independent country in the world map after a nine-month bloody liberation war in 1971 against the Pakistan occupation forces. The National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar has already been brought to full readiness as people from all walks of life prepare to pay tribute to the nation's martyrs of the Liberation War in celebration of the day.
Marking the day, the President, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, members of the Advisory Council, senior government officials, diplomats and citizens from across the country are expected to lay wreaths at the memorial in the morning in honour of the heroic martyrs.
