Dhaka, July 11 -- LGRD Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain on Thursday declared July 11 as the First Day of Resistance of the 2024 mass uprising, recalling the pivotal events that unfolded at Cumilla University on that day.

Speaking at a memorial event held on the university campus to mark the anniversary of the police crackdown, Asif said, "The first blood of the 2024 mass uprising was shed on July 11 at Cumilla University, when police under the then fascist regime launched a brutal and unprovoked assault on students. In response, the students staged a fierce resistance and blockaded the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway until 11 pm."
