Police have arrested Shah Jony, joint general secretary of the Tangail town unit of Jubo League, from the city's brothel area in connection with a case filed over an anti-discrimination student movement. Shah Jony, son of Md. Israfil from Akur Takur Para in Tangail town, was detained based on a tip-off. He is accused in multiple cases related to the student movement, police sources said.

Tangail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tanvir Ahmed confirmed the arrest and said, "He was arrested from the brothel area based on secret information. However, no remand has been sought for interrogation."
