Dhaka, Nov. 5 -- Javed Karim has officially assumed office as the Chief Engineer (Routine Duties) of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), marking his position as the organization's 20th Chief Engineer.
After overcoming administrative hurdles, Karim took charge on Monday by the Development-1 Branch of the Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD). He succeeds recently retired Chief Engineer Md. Anwar Hossain, whose tenure ended on October 26.
With Hossain's departure, LGED remained without a head for ten consecutive working days until the ministry's notification ended the period of uncertainty.
