Dhaka, June 1 -- Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam on Sunday expressed strong optimism about a surge in Japanese investments in Bangladesh following the successful visit of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to Japan.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy, Alam described the visit as "highly successful" and said it has significantly strengthened bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Japan.

"The relationship between the two countries has grown deeper and stronger. We now hope to see major Japanese investors coming forward with substantial investment plans for Bangladesh," he said.
