Dhaka, Sept. 1 -- The Jamaat-e-Islami has called for the Jatiya Party to be outlawed, mirroring the ban already placed on the Awami League.
The call came on Sunday evening after a meeting between Jamaat leaders and Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus at Jamuna, reports bdnews24.com.
Jamaat itself was banned by the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina four days before her government collapsed on Aug 5 last year.
Jamaat's deputy chief Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said the Jatiya Party had acted as an ally of what he termed was the "fascist" Awami League."We have clearly said that since the Jatiya Party was a collaborator of fascist Awami League, it can also be banned in the same way Awami League has been banned," Taher said.
