Dhaka, Dec. 25 -- Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed serious concern over potential violations of the election code of conduct in connection with the reception being organised to mark the homecoming of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

The party has urged the Election Commission (EC) to remain vigilant and take appropriate action to ensure a fair and level playing field for all political parties.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner on Wednesday, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair said the party had promptly removed all its posters and banners across the country within 48 hours of the election schedule announcement.
