Dhaka, June 1 -- The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has instructed the Election Commission (EC) to resolve the application submitted by Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh concerning the cancellation of its registration as a political party and other related issues.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed, delivered the verdict on Sunday (June 1), granting approval to Jamaat's appeal.
In its observation, the court noted that it would be up to the EC to decide whether Jamaat can contest elections using the 'Scale' symbol.
