Dhaka, Dec. 11 -- Marking International Human Rights Day, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Wednesday issued a statement underscoring the urgent need to safeguard human rights across the globe and calling for swift action to address ongoing humanitarian crises.
"10 December is International Human Rights Day. Since the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, this day has been observed worldwide with great significance," he said.
Dr Rahman emphasised that human rights constitute a sacred responsibility and serve as a foundation for social justice, stressing that they must never be compromised for political motives or personal interests.
